I can see why you may wish to see the return of Greene, given that you did have a couple of good seasons with him in charge. What probably should be remembered though is that the spine of that team was formed by Wycombe old boys in Chuck, Cousins, Carroll and Scott, three of whom were a class above the league you played in, and with Cousins so good in defence even Chuck looked decent, picking up safe hands award.

However, old legs don't go on forever. At both Maidenhead and Chesham, Greene wasn't able to call on old friends due to them retiring, moving into management, or in the case of Chuck, better left alone. I know that there were finanicial issues during his tenure at Maidenhead and Chesham, but even taking that into consideration his record at those clubs was pretty poor.

If he came back to Windsor, would he be able to be as successful as before, without the Wycombe pros in the ranks?

That sort of makes sense but it doesnt. Dennis put a winning team together. Most successful teams have a solid spine? He introduced the likes of Ryan Parsons and Lee Kersey (not old timers) as well.

I think we probably didnt appreciate what Dennis was "building" at Stag Meadow. He steadied a sinking ship (he took over a team that had ageing players incl Fergie, Fiore & Bunting) - introduced experienced heads and was adding younger players.

I agree that Dennis was a good manager and would make a good job again, my only concern is why is Dennis coming back? Is it because he feels he can do a job here or is it because no-one else wants him at the level he wants to manage at and he is going to use the club to get what he wants?

we need stability over the next three to five yuears and if dennis stayed for that long I believe he would give us that, but how long is he thinking of staying and what is his agenda.

I would like to think hewants to come back to the club because of the club and he would get my full support if he did, but i just think we should be careful tha is all. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/affig.gif" alt="" />

What did we win under Dennis then Doris ?
We blew the Division 1 championship [finishing 3rd, 1 out of the promotion places] which we should have won comfortably and got into the Premier Division due to a restructure of non-league football!

The criteria that year was top 6 for promotion, coming third was well inside the top 6, and the league was lost by 2 points and remember key injuries to scotty, couso and Shaggy for the last 6 weeks of the season you cannot blame dennis for that Steve. The club were in agood position when he left compared to now how can you complain being the secretary, we all know your relationship weren't great because he spoke his mind, but its the success on the fild we want after all isn't it.I agree with most people if DG came back with the long term in mind its our best option.

No, the citeria was the two top teams from Div 1 North & South would be PROMOTED and a number of clubs [not stated] would be accepted to fill the gaps left by clubs joining Conference South subject to ground gradings being acceptable.

Is asking a question now classed as a complaint then and where did I blame you for anything Dennis?

PS please post under your own name as it makes you look a bit schizo otherwise!

Incorrect Windsor Sec.

The champions of Div 1 North and South had a preliminary play-off match to decide who went into the play offs with teams in Ryman Premier for places in the Connie South.

Lewes had to win a further 3 matches after winning Div 1 South to get effective promotion

Doris, do you think its right to have Windsor Sec, speaking openly about possible future manager it dont look good. but thats typical of our club at present. no one has any idea whats going on!!!!!!!!!!!

Windsor Sec does not need me to fight his battles. However, he has not spoken openly about a possible future manager. He asked a pro-Greene person what did Greene win with Windsor, and mention prmotion criteria for two seasons back.

He also made suggestions that you Jeeves are in fact Dennis Greene, and judging by your comments making him out to be the saviour of mankind, that suggestion might not be too far off the mark!

If you read my posts I have never said He is our saviour, but along with others, are fed up watching this drivel, it is time for a change and yes I did like DG not only for the team he put out, but also the way he united the whole club and that for me has been missed. you can stir all you like but I have my own mind and am just voicing my opinion along with many others.

I do not believe there is a vacancy at present, but if there was in the near future, any true WEFC supporters need to remember that whatever Greene's results with Windsor, he left because WEFC was 'too small for him', because he was 'ambitious', and because he thought other bigger clubs were a better vehicle for his aspirations. If as I suspect, Greene is lobbying for a return to Stag Meadow through this forum or other means, firstly it is disrepectful to the existing management team and secondly, what has happened to the Greene ambition? If it is still there, he will only use WEFC to attempt to resurect his diminished reputation and leave again; if the ambition has gone, why would WEFC appoint him? Certainly his recent record is appalling, both on the pitch and concerning his relationships with club officials and supporters, but of course, it is all someone elses fault. I say if there is a vacancy in the near future, NO to Greene.
