And what about if you don't go up? We're not in crisis, so I don't see why all this applies to us, but doesn't to you? Hornchurch are in exactly the same boat as us.

After watching our first two home games(was away for the enfield game)i would be very surprised if we didn't go up but i could be proved wrong yet
Hornchurch are in a different position as we had half a season in the conf south where we hardly won a game but the fans stayed loyal and the support has grown, plus we have a decent atmosphere at the bridge and the fans love it

no,i am saying you probably have a base of 250-300 loyal fans and 100-200 other who will turn up if you are winning, same as hornchurch, but our potential crowds are much more than yours and that has been proved by jeff king going to chelmsford because he feels he doesn't have the support of the island!

I know people who go to watch both hornchurch & canvey and the atmosphere is apparantly no comparison, hornchurch sing all the time and canvey hardly ever!!

As things stand at h/t of the Blackburn game, our form is the same as Chelsea. Hardly a crisis, it's a long season and our young team will improve as time goes on. I think Hx will go up, but that doesn't bother me in the slightest. The only thing I'm worried about is CIFC.

Our support is one of the most passionate at this level without a doubt. After all, we outsung many a Conference team last season despite having less fans and losing more than winning. Wingate's chairman told our supporters that they had never heard noise like it when we played them, and we hope to take this everywhere we go....

i think he is wrong to criticise the islanders in all honesty as not everyone likes football,i think it is a bit stupid of the bloke to assume that because a team goes into the conference a team on an island like canvey will automatically fill their ground every week, especially being so close to southend and having loads of hammers around, hornchurch are luckier because they have a greater catchment area in hornchurch, upminster and romford

Compared to Romford, Upminster, Hornchurch etc. there are probably more that would follow West Ham than in Canvey, Basildon and the rest of Castle Point, although we would hold a bulk of Southend fans.

When you think that our crowd for Flackwell was less than 0.75% of the island's population, it's actually a disgusting statistic.

Borrowed his girlfriend's season ticket to get into a Hornchurch game, got caught and was banned from the ground for the rest of the season and from then on could only go to away games.

Such a great supporter that he tried to get in without paying, lol.... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
