Dissapointing result again best football, poor officials, one silly mistake.

1-0 loss!!

Ricky Wiseman different class saves a penalty makes three quality saves and let down by a Westy mistake.

To me our youth and lack of experience is costing us games, every time our attackers went near the ball they pulled and poked and pushed, they were all hands, climbing all over us.

Every time we went near one of their attackers they screamed like they had been shot and got the foul!!

We are going to have to learn to be as manipulative, all in all I thought it was an OK performance!!

Cant wait to see the match report!!!

It’s always disappointing to lose a game and, when you are outplayed by a better team, you simply have to grin and bear it. But Canvey do seem to be on something of a streak lately in that they are not being outplayed and they are not facing significantly better opposition; but they are still losing. The disappointment of Ware was compounded at Park Lane today when a sloppy mistake in midfield and poor officials throughout led to (IMHO) an undeserved one-nil defeat.

But we have to be realistic and face up to a couple of facts. The first is that all players make mistakes from time to time although they are not always punished in such a severe way. The second is that there has always been (and always will be) poor officials. We have to be much better and rise above such circumstances and at the moment we don’t appear to have quite enough skill or experience to do that. We have youth and energy in abundance but we are lacking an experienced playmaker who can dictate the pattern of play.

On too many occasions today we were manhandled off the ball far too easily. we were able to head the ball but rarely to a yellow shirt, too few players were running off the ball and making space and too many players were reluctant to fight for the 50/50 balls. But on the other hand we showed some excellent football, we were working together more and more as a team and, most pleasing of all, we appear to be learning from our mistakes. A case in point has to be Ricky who, following his disaster last week, was my personal MOTM today.

I enjoyed the enthusiasm and commitment today, am disappointed by the result but still looking forward to the next game. Also delighted with a crowd of 406 and superb vocal support from the Yellow Army.

Crowd of 406 was very positive. Thought a draw would have been about right today but didn't deserve to win.

Attendances won't stay that high unless we start winning.

We did play well in parts and we were unlucky not to get the chance to equalise. We should have had a penalty in the second half, but it wasn't to be.

Our defence just seems to go missing for huge swathes of the game and that is our major problem. When we are attacking, our players get isolated very easily and their team mates refuse to help them out which is becoming increasingly frustrating for me to watch.

Thinking about it I'm pleased with the performance of a few of our players to do - Clyde, Edgar, Leon and Curran were all good, but I don't think the rest of the team had too much to brag about though.

Ricky really has to stop kicking the ball, 'cause if he does manage to find one of our players on the end of it, we certainly don't catch the second ball. It seems like common sense to me that he'd have more control over a throw, so he'd be better off using that, especially as he has decent length on them.

As it is, I'd start the following team for our game against Maldon;

Johnson

Blewer

Wall

Kreyling

Crow

Gordon

Edgar

Dobbo

Bourne

Curran

Rugg

I'd also have Reade given a run out in the second half.

Wall has a back injury I hear and could be out for rather a long time.

Ribbit!

I think you are wrong in lots of ways, Ricky cost us a game last week and IMHO paid us back this week.

His kick was OK but the rest of his game was very good. Trust me in a few years he is going to be class and very much in demmand!!

Clyde Roberts out wide was very good, shame we did not get that in the first half. We are going through a learning curve and I would not tinker to much, for me the consistantly weak link is West, but then again he is learning and will improve by playing!!

If John can keep heads up and maybe strengthen in depth we will achieve our targets for this year which has to be upper mid table.

The consolation is we are losing by the odd mistake, but it is not the same mistake evert week and we are learning from them!!!

Stuart then!

MOB, Bourney's head was well and truly down both at half time and the end of the match. He was extremely frustrated at not playing today and I felt for him, 'cause he should have started. Apparantly he didn't because John wanted to go with the same defence that beat Sudbury.

Ribbit

Bourney has had his down days and his opportunities, he is a class player but sometimes does not work hard enough!!

This young side is making mistakes, their no 2 suckered us into giving away a penalty. The young lad that this week everyone was screaming to be rested stepped up with a performance Danny Potter with all his experience would have been proud of.

At least its not boring and at least we know when our lads [****!!****] up they try to put it right!!!

Thought we should've deserved something from this game. Can't believe our luck at conceeding sloppy/own goals.

Aveley were what you would expect from a Craig Edwards team - Dirty, diving, cheating thugs. Can tell the Manager influences the team, by his comments to the Canvey fans during the second half.

Like every team I've seen us play, Aveley protected their penalty area with their lives! Something we should try and learn. I think taking Nicky off at half-time was wrong, it should've been Curran. Whils I'm a big fan of Jay, he's off the boil at the minute and his first touch is letting him down.

Dobbo is looking slow in the middle but his presence in Midfield alongside Edgar is what we need. Some of our players do need to get onto the weights at the gym though. When Ryan came on he battled for everything and gave as good as he got in the 50/50s. The likes of Clyde, Lee Jay, Corbell and Ruggy get knocked off much easier.

It's been noticable yesterday as at Ware that there is a big gap in the field between the Defence and the Midfield and the opposition players are utilising it to their advantage. Our defenders aren't the fastest in the world and on the counter-attack us fans have our hearts in our mouths everytime.

Still that's the joy and dispare of football I suppose.

Congrats to Ricky for pulling out the stops to prove critics wrong. Could see him throwing the ball out more too. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> But something has got to be done with Westy, he either needs a good kick up the backside or to spend a game or two on the sidelines. I don't know how much Crow enjoys playing centre-half, but moving him over and putting Bourne in his place might show Andrew a thing or two.

Team for Maldon:

- Wiseman -

- Blewer - Kreyling - Crow - Bourne

- Roberts - Edgar - Dobinson - Corbell

- Rugg - Gordon -

SUBS:

Johnson

West

Batch

Jay

J. Curran.

Problem is they got away with it and when we tried it we did not!!

A pattern is developing in this league, if you are even slightly touched you must scream like a stuck pig!

In the last two minutes yesterday the ball went out for a yellow throw, one of their players ran straight to the lino a screamed in his face thats our ball, the lino shook and gave it the other way!

He was scared!!

Ribbit i dont see what your problem is ricky was a class above yesterday how he didnt get MOM i dont know, great save from the pen and 3 other top draw saves, claimed all crosses into the box and didnt look like getting beaten by an aveley player!! i thought ricky kicked well, in the first half he kicked so great balls in the channels in very windy conditions. in the 2nd half he kick a few long but id rather him kick long then short!

we just cant stop leting in sloppy goals! there goal came from our attack westy missed a head but blewer should of been covering round the back. the blewer runs at ricky (who made a good save) when he should of got round the back of him, the ball hits blewer and were 1 down within moments on the 2nd half!!

over the whole 90 mins i dont think players worked hard enough, dobbo started in the last 30mins and looked class i think in total leon and corbell got 3 crosses max into the box! clyde looks 10 times the player out on the right then in the middle hopefully edar will start on sat and give us some flair going forward

Mark out of ten for sat -

Wiseman - 9

blewer - 6

crow - 7

kreylin -8

west - 5

corbell - 6

dobbbo - 8

clyde - 6 (in the middle) 7(on the right)

gordon - 6

Currun - 6

rugg - 6

Edgar - 6

Stuart - 6

lee Jay - 6

Now hang on a minute, a week ago everyone and their dog was slagging Ricky off for his poor kicking. We play one match and his kicking didn't seem any better, yet I get flack for pointing that out. Hardly fair when you were all saying his kicking was rubbish last week.
