Would actually be very happy with a home tie against AFC Wombles - expect a crowd in excess of 3500 for sure.
And Television as well.

Not for the 4th Qualifying Round they don't !

Sky and BBC show matches live only from the First Round Proper onwards (and also send a cameraman to every other match for goal highlights).

It would be sods law to draw one of the Welsh teams as I have planned a weekend in Kent !!!!

Erm, sorry about this, but I've got my fingers crossed for a Welsh team. Visiting my GrandFather that weekend and he lives slap bang in the middle of Newport and Merthyr. (Not sure if I'd be allowed to go though). <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Though maybe my Grandad would like to see some of the fleets many superstars?

Am I right in thinking Dover are STILL waiting to reach Round One Proper, having never even managed it when they were in the Conference?

I think they reached it once - but only once.

Alas, the scorers were in fact Craig Cloke, Matt Bourne and Stuart Nethercott (og). Not sure where Billy Bone, an illustrious member of the Fleet Non-Playing Substitutes XI, is now - he was quite well-known while playing in Singapore, bizarrely, so perhaps he's back there.

Why on earth would you want to increase our chances of being knocked out once again at the 'prestigious' fourth qualifying round stage?

Again, surely the preference at this stage would be for a low-key tie against a side not local to us, relatively out of form and one that should be dispatched comfortably? We could then save our wish for a large attendance and big-name opposition for later rounds, when the rewards would be greater.

More lying from the BBC Website then, who had Dover's scorers down as Tyne, Bone and Cloke. Confusion reigns.

I don't really see Tonbridge or Dover as potential banana skin ties to be perfectly honest. Also, this kind of tie would surely be preferable to an away trip to, say, Grays, Exeter or Dagenham?

The possible clubs we can get are as follows.

AFC Wimbledon

Aldershot Town

Basingstoke Town

Bishops Stortford

Brackley Town

Bromley

Cambridge City or Matlock

Cambridge United

Clevedon or Hitchin

Crawley Town

Dagenham & Redbridge

Dover

Exeter City

Farnborough Town or Yeading

Fisher Athletic

Forest Green Rovers

Grays Athletic

Haverhill Rovers

Hungerford Town

Leatherhead

Lewis

Mangotsfield

Merthyr Tydfil

Newport County

Oxford United

Potters Bar Town

Quorn

Rushden & Diamonds

Salisbury City

St Albans City

Stevenage Borough

Sudbury

Tonbridge

Welling or Hornchurch

Weymouth

Woking

Worcester City or Hemel Hempstead

There are one or two that I may have got wrong, some of those listed above could actually be in the North half of the draw. Kettering for example are in the Conference North and we somehow managed to play them last season. I don't think I've missed off any team from the possibles that we can play.

Haverhill Rovers sound like someone Tommy Barnes and co would have played against in Tiger and Roy of the Rovers. They'll do me. Brackley Town sound a bit tinpot too.

That said, that line-up above looks a bit stronger than usual. A good 80% or more of those you wouldn't fancy away from home.

Any Kent club, Welling United, Fisher Atletic or Met. Police would be good.

Why would you want to draw Welling or Fisher, who have a reasonable chance of beating us? Also, consider the potential embarrassment factor of defeat in a Kent derby.

In theory, the ideal draw would be at home against a side near the bottom of their division, hence avoiding a tie against a side lower down the pyramid but near the top of their table and therefore full of confidence (e.g. Boreham Wood last season).

You are absolutely right mate, lets hope that we dont draw anybody from the premiership until at least the quarter final!!!!

If we draw at home it may well be the biggest crowd of the season!!

Let the other teams do the worrying, who these days wants to draw the mighty fleet, have some confidence in your team, too many bleaters out there for me.

Onwards and Upwards, C'mon you reds.

Oxford, Stevenage, away will do, bring 'em on <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/djsmile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/icon29.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/djsmile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/icon29.gif" alt="" />
