Billericay Town FC - Club Historian?

Dear Sir,

My name is Bryan Reed and I am currently trying to compile a concise playing history for my local club, Maidstone United FC.

I was wondering if Billericay Town FC have a club historian who may be able to help me locate an attendance figure for the following game which, I believe, was Billericays Centenary Match:

25/02/1989 Billericay Town v Maidstone United - Challenge Match 1-3

It was indeed Billericay's centenary season, but I don't think this friendly was arranged because of that though, more likely either club didn't have a fixture. The match isn't included on the fixture list in subsequent programmes, so unsure of the attendance, although a rough guess from memory (very rough!) circa 300.

Ryan is right. There was a blank Saturday for both clubs and the match was squeezed in at short notice. It was trailed as a centenary match and the programme cover announced it a such.

 

Attendance was low even by the standards of the time, nearer 180 I would say.

 

It rained

 

It then it rained some more

 

It was cold too

 

Grim all round really, though Maidstone did field their full first team.
