The new Haringey Borough FC thread

Recommended Posts

Mr Rhodes as i have just posted on another thread, Drinks where all round from a happy chairman, and so he should be! Somone who puts so much of his time and effort into the club is now seeing football played at a good standard - i see a few of the players insisting on buying him a drink tonight such is the unity within the club, i would be hardpressed to find one like it.

Well that's good to hear and I'm genuinely pleased, it's a big contrast to just a few weeks ago when Josie told my other half that morale at the Club was at an all time low when they happened to meet in Tesco's and nobody was talking to each other.

3praise - I'm looking forward to your report on yesterday's proceedings at Coles Park where I see 'we' finally managed to get a game on, all the Non League paper said, and I quote, is that 'Houdini experts Haringey Borough climbed out of the bottom two with a point from a 2-2 home draw with Broxbourne Borough'. Also does the Chairman still buy a round when 'we' draw, I suppose a point against 'the mighty' Broxbourne Borough can almost be constued as a victory. You're conspicuous by your absence at the moment, what's up.

3praise - You're very quiet at present, what did you do this afternoon with your beloved Haringey Borough 'redundant', did your good lady drag you kicking and screaming, or should I say willingly, around Wood Green or Brent Cross Shopping Centre.

i have been quiet recently Rhodes and if you are missing me then its nice of you to say so!

unfortunatly i wasnt shopping with the missus, as there was a friendly arranged for Haringey to try out new players etc so i decided to travel and have a look!

I have also Spoke to Josie about the whole "graveyard" club house situation and she gave me her word that is not what was said and you must have missed quoted - wont be the first time would it Rhodes!!

3praise - Welcome back, for a moment there I thought that your lord and master had specifically told you to keep a low profile whilst he made the necessary arrangements to get me banned from the Forum as he indicated he would do to our Chairman and on his one and only post, it's funny that I'm still waiting for my collar to be felt by the SSML and FA hierarchy. Incidentally if Josie was misquoted it was not by me, it was my good lady that she met in Tesco's and by all accounts 'graveyard' was an under statement, more like the Nevada desert following a nuclear test explosion or Anthrax Island in the Outer Hebrides. Where was the friendly yesterday out of interest, I take it you will be at the Harefield United fixture on Tuesday.

Rhodes, at the end of the day what was said was said but at least Haringey have a Club house to socialise in,KTFC I heard wasnt even allowed in the club house at Hendon, changing rooms and out, for entertainment did you do your inspector Clueso impression?

3praise - You are totally misinformed, Hendon always treated us like Kings whenever we played at Claremont Road, we had our own personal assistant called Eric at no extra charge and he all but wiped Lee Scott's nose for him. As for the after match hospitality a state banquet with caviar and Krug champagne would not do it justice, probably just as good infact as what your lord and master deviously laid on in order to impress Hertford Town in that infamous 9-0 game earlier in the season.

Stop it Rhodes! For the last time , we had a few sandwiches and a bit of cake! And what was infamous about the game?
Much better fare at Kingsbury on Saturday - hot potatoes and sausages etc!

3praise - I've been patiently waiting for your report from the Haringey v Harefield United fixture last night, what was your take on events as I gather Ged Searson's men were unfortunate to go down 2-1 having scored first and enjoying the lions share of play for long periods.

3praise - It's funny that one can normally set their watch by you on here Lato style so it's funny that you still haven't posted your report on events at Coles Park on Tuesday evening. Also what has happened to Christian Banuelos Charles aka Santos out of interest as he doesn't appear to be in the team any longer, I thought he was one of Ged's prodigies.

You gather Correctly Rhodes! i dont feel like its my place to come on and give long and winding match reports, i prefer to leave that to the professionals! But seeing as noone else has... the game started with both teams majestically knocking the ball about, Harefield seemed to blow caution to a very cold wind and where not attacking as much as Haringey expected, Haringey took control of a very good looking First half. With another calm finish. Haringey should have been 2 up straight after with shots flying in and attakcs reigning on the harefield goal but with no luck! the harefield strikers - not being given any service through midfield for large portions of the first half finally got the ball to the front man who turned and shot neatly into the bottom corner - a very good goal!

The second half was a little different, Harefield with a very animated manager on the sidelines must have been given a right rollicking and came out all fired up, turning the match into a very attacking game - a delight to watch! both teams didnt want to lose the game, and i know that haringey didnt want a draw against a side they feel they could/should have beaten.

Having said that Harefield's 2nd was a good bit of skill inside the box "twinkle toe style" and calm finish - such is football that haringey had s much of tha ball in the attacking 3rd but were loosing the game.

The end of the game was very dissapointing with 5 minutes to go harefield was putting the ball into the corners playing out time, i just thought that a club pushing for promotion to have to resort to that kind of tactic quite embarressing. but hey as they say a win is a win!

With reguards to Santos, personal matters has reduced his playing time this year.

such is the "band of Brothers" ethos at the 'boro' the players play for him when he is away and of course love it when he is on the same pitch as them!

So why's that then, that is exactly what the problem is at Coles Park as there is nobody willing to take the bull by the horns to promote and progress the Club although when somebody does make a brave attempt to do so then they are mysteriously reigned in or sacked by your lord and master as if the last thing he wants is for the Club to progress and be in the spotlight as if he has something sinister to hide. As I've said Haringey could so easily be a Dagenham and Redbridge or a Grays Athletic if not a Barnet or a Leyton Orient, it wouldn't take that much doing rather than languishing in the lower reaches of the SSML season after season. By the way Ged's picture was in the Tottenham Journal today with the following brief article: 'Haringey Borough will be hoping to maintain their forward progress when they host Langford at Coles Park on Saturday. After spending last weekend without a fixture, Ged Searson's side lost some ground in their attempts to lift themselves away from the SSML Premier Division's bottom two. Langford are one of a few teams who they could potentially draw into the relegation battle. Borough will be back at home again the following Tuesday when they host Kingsbury London Tigers'.

Rhodes, we have heard this many times from you, but what exactly would need to be done? What was your "plan" to turn Haringey Borough into a Grays Athletic or a Leyton Orient? What were the timescales? How would it have been financed? How many people would have been involved and who were they? What would the long term stability of the club be based on? What would the tangible assets be, where would they come from and be financed and how would these be built up in the short, mid and long term? What hierarchy would there be in the club in terms of personnel?

In short how, in detail, were you planning to turn a perenially struggling SSML side into an established Conference or Football League Club?

Basically overnight, everything was in place to take the Club forward kicking and screaming into the 21st Century including an FA Charter Standard application and high profile partnerships with the Council, Spurs and Community Groups however as I said the hierarchy were not the slightest bit interested which says it all. Trevor Brooking phoned me personally for example asking what he could do for the Club but 'Sugar' didn't want to know, any other non league Club would have given its right arm to be given such a great opportunity to make progress.

Rhodes, It is still beggers belief that a successful business man such as 'sugar' wouldnt want to take an investment forward? Maybe in his executive decision foundations have to be laid before the wheels can be attached, i mean when you was there Rhodes are you telling me the team that was playing week in week out was ready for huge investment?

Rhodes being a man of the world such as you claim to be, it strikes me as a little silly if not immature that you think just because there where a few connections on the table you believe that "overnight" something could be done!! Everyone at the club has faith in 'sugar' and his decisions and that he is taking the club forward at the right pace! With some of the idea's you have for over night change, it could have potentially unstabled the club and investment would be lost!

Rhodes if only you thought about things before steaming in thinking you know it all, you wouldnt be a bad bloke!!
