AFC Wimbledon Job Opportunity

Recommended Posts

I genuinely hope its not to replace trevor williams....

the co-ck up over registration was good ammo to wind the ghastly few forum woofters up with but by the same token its an easy error to make and one that should have been left behind the club as they move onwards inevitably into the conference in due course...

I was secretly quite pleased when they got their reprieve as 18 points (all partisan views aside) was unfair and I hope that this is a new position and not one created by the departure of TW...

I'll try and do some googling later and find out.....being as this appointment is at a very weird time...and the wording on the job advert says

........"we intend to move quickly on this appointment"

I dont think AFC W. were expecting to have this position vacant.

Trevor Williams resigned on 6th August....

this is on AFC's official website

Trevor Williams has resigned his post as club secretary and will leave in the near future, after working out his notice period.

Trevor has worked for the club since its beginnings, for a long time on an unpaid basis. During that time he took on the club secretary role as well as a number of other administrative responsibilities.

Chief Executive Erik Samuelson said “Trevor doesn’t get enough recognition for being one of the founders of the club, along with Ivor Heller, Kris Stewart and Marc Jones. He was here at the very beginning and, to be truthful, was probably the only one of us who knew anything about non-league football. We wouldn't have got started without him.

“In addition to his day-to-day job as club secretary, Trevor has taken on a number of other roles without complaining and was always the first to volunteer to get in early or stay late to make sure things got done. He has built very good working relationships with his counterparts in the league and with his work colleagues, especially the football staff; we will miss his irreverent humour and cheerful disposition. Personally, I will miss his wise words which were always available but never forced upon me.”

Trevor said “I have been thinking about this for some time and I think it is time to move on. I’ve been in this job for five years and although I’ve loved being involved I need to get a better paid job and make a career for myself. Working for the Dons is incredibly rewarding in many ways, but not in terms of money!

“I was delighted to be asked to stay on as matchday secretary and look forward to staying involved in the club. I am sure that, under Terry, we will have a great season and I will enjoy being involved in that without giving all my time to it.

Finally, I think I should mention that the Jermaine Darlington affair was a difficult time for me and I would like to thank everyone who was supportive to me during that time. I really appreciate the support that I got from so many fans of the club and from outsiders too.”

not to put down the effort by TW and the others....but I thought this was a club founded by the fans...not four named people....surely OI had something to do with it all.... grin

well thats true and like TW there are thousands of unpaid workers out there running NL football clubs ...at least he was paid something...

in any event good luck to him and lets hope he checks the players before the team sheets go into the ref.....!

out of the frying pan....?? grin

TW was an asset to the club and its always sad to see a valued member of staff go. The JD farce, and thats what it was, as the rule isn't applied in any league above the Ryman, was a genuine mistake. However its history now, and we at AFCW are looking forward to walloping the Essex crews along with everyone else.

Good luck to all in your fight for second place as top spot is already booked for us.

to be honest with you i dont see afcw getting top spot plus i dont know why you are over confident look at the teams who will be going for it you have chelmsford, bill and ricay , carshalton and boreham wood even us urchins. So by the look of this you lot will be given a run for your money for top spot this year and finally so forward to the 10th of november when the urchins take 3 points of you.
