FA Cup 3QR v Margate - Updates

« on: Today at 1:34pm » Quote Quote Modify Modify

Team: Perks; Deeney; Mountford; Frater; L.Gentle-King; Sealey; Williams; Hill; Duckett; Mills; Stevenson.

Subs: Childs; McNeiley; James; Pringle; Simpson.

Hitchin have kicked-off and are attacking the Lancaster Road end of the ground. Both teams have started a little cautiously, as you'd expect in a game of this importance. Darren Salton has made no changes to the team that picked up a point against Rugby in midweek. Margate are lively and will be no pushovers. 10 mins. gone

HITCHIN TOWN 0 - 0 Margate

Good build up play ends with Charlie Williams firing inches wide.

20 minutes; GOAL HITCHIN!

Tyron Sealey picked the ball up on the halfway line and set off on a run with the Margate defenders backing off. He cut inside before laying a ball neatly into the path of Mark Duckett who hit the ball sweetly left-footed across the keeper and into the far corner.

HITCHIN TOWN 1 - 0 Margate

Duckett, 20

In the final 10 minutes of the half Margate put in a terrific effort, and had Hitchin really under the cosh, hitting the bar at one point. We're lucky to go in at half-time one goal up.

Half-Time: HITCHIN TOWN 1 - 0 Margate

Duckett, 20

WHY DO WE KEEP BACKING OFF ALL THE TIME.??

It just amazes me week in week out, that such a team containing players-6 of them experience in conference national, add in a good goalkeeper-makes 7 high quality players-seem to turn out dross.

Trouble is, the players know the defence is so frail, that no-one has any confidence and they fall to bits.Thats why RT has got it so wrong in not concentrating on sorting his defence first.

As above-why do players back off-how often have we heard that.

One and a half games away from losing his job imo.

That will cost a bit of money, but so will getting crowds of under 400 which is what is going to happen

Today was always going to be really tough, but lose today and tuesday and surely we have to draw a line under him
