It was five on the bounce for Canvey Island tonight as they ran out 3 – 2 winners against Croydon Athletic. Croydon gave the Gulls a tough game though and the speed and skills of Shabazz Baidoo and Tom Bolarinwa constantly kept Canvey’s rearguard on their toes. Canvey Island 4 - 1 Hendon - Ryman Premier League, 5th February 2011

Canvey Island comfortably dispatched visitors Hendon to rack up their fourth league win on the bounce this afternoon. Canvey were assisted by the fact that Hendon made the game hard work for themselves by having three players sent off. Canvey Island clearly put the disappointing defeat at Harrow Borough behind them in preparation for hosting league leaders Sutton United. Just four days after exiting the FA Cup after a 20 penalty kick thriller at Dartford last Tuesday, Canvey Island exited the FA Trophy in poor fashion against lower league opposition in the form of AFC Sudbury.
