FF News
Macclesfield Town assistant manager Steve Watson was pleased that the Silkmen did everything they were asked to last as they beat Wrexham 3-0. Danny Whitaker opened the scoring 10 minutes before half time before Paul Lewis added the second two minutes into the second half. Whitaker then added a third in what was a vital three points for John Askey’s side as Macc climb up to third in the league table. Watson also confessed that the Silkmen could have scored more if it wasn’t for the visiting keeper and former Silkmen player Shwan Jalal. Speaking after the game Watson said: “They’ve done everything we’ve asked them to do, we knew it was a big game and what was at stake - there was a good chance of climbing up a few places in the table if we won. “We kept a clean sheet scored some good goals and if it wasn't for Shwan Jalal in goal then maybe it would have been a bit more comfortable.” There were three changes from Saturday’s 2-1 win at Guiseley with skipper Andy Halls playing in a more attacking role. Watson believes the Silkmen have a good squad and not just a starting 11 and the Macc number two is not getting carried away with their good league position: “We are in a situation now where we have got good cover in all positions so we can change and freshen things up. “Like we side in the dressing room at the end of the game it’s a very good start but that is all it is we’ve got a good squad not just 11 players,” Watson added.
