Play-off tie still alive - Town boss Weaver

Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver says the side only need one chance on Sunday to turn the tie against AFC Fylde back in their favour.

This was after Town lost 1-0 at the CNG Stadium, a result which means they must go to Fylde and win but Weaver had this message: "It was a tough game for us, we caused them problems but they kept going and our keeper has kept us in it at times, they have forward momentum over the last few years, we have to turn up on Sunday, we have nothing to lose it is only 1-0."

"If you take chances it is a different game that is football, we could have been 3 or 4-1 down going into half-time, we have dug in and made sure there is still plenty to play for in the 2nd leg."

Weaver said he knows just how big a game the next tie now is: "They will now it is only one goal and we hit the post right at the end, we will take a good away, it is only a slender lead, we will enjoy our day on Sunday and give it our best shot, if we get one chance and take it the tie is level."

There was also bad news for the side, with Jordan Thewlis coming off near the start of the second half and Weaver revealed it could be a bad injury for the forward: "It looks like he has tweaked his medial knee ligament, it will be a shame to see him missing on Sunday, he has been a big player and when he recovers, he will be a big part of our plans."

There were close to 1700 fans at the CNG Stadium and Weaver said he was impressed while also looking ahead to the next game:

"It's awesome, they got behind us, made so much noise, we want to do them proud, we've had a great season and want it to continue, I want the players to keep their faith in their ability with the right platform and the fans behind them, we can just go and enjoy our day."
