fleecing pensioners

Interesting point raised by several people harrassing poor old baldiknocks, last evening. Is charging extra for the comfort of the stand putting some people off coming?

OK if you say had 20 people who are prepared to cough up the extra dosh, that equals £30 extra revenue, but if you drop the charge and 5 more people come you have increased revenue by £35. Perhaps worth a trial?
quote:

I LOIKES ME BEER

I'm not sure that "fleecing pensioners" is the most appropriate heading but it's your call.
The ground admission is £7 [i would say that is common to most of the League], concessions are £5 [i suggest that is 50p/£1 above the majority] and transfer to the stand is £1.50 [i never sit there but I suggest that most clubs charge £1/1.50].
I have heard the argument that these prices are deterring a number of people from coming to games but is it 10? 20? 50? To each game? Or is that just an excuse?
I wonder what the income from transfer to the stand is on match days. Not many people seem to sit there, but I wonder whether that is due to the restricted view rather than the cost. [i'll pass on the quality of last night's football!]
It is very difficult to have a 'trial'. Look at the home gates since the Resurrection. 567 on the first Tuesday for Hendon. 402 for the first Saturday against Purfleet. 451 last Saturday against well-supported Gravesend. Last night? 250 or so? I can't see any pattern there so it will be difficult to judge any 'trial'.
One thing is for sure, we need more people in the ground, whether b*ms on seats or feet on concrete. I think that a number of initiatives are required, not just one. We will hear from the new Team in due course and, no doubt, there will be something for everyone of us to do.

fleecing being the phrase used by people harassing knockie. used as title in a sort of ironic way, cos i know as well as rest of us that numbers will vary in response to results not because of charges. Yes I also know some clubs do not charge but costs £8 to get in,

None compare to the Saints. smile.gif" border="0

 • 2 weeks later...

with the overwhelming smell of P*ss and biscuits eminating from the main stand due to all the pensioners and care in the community cases that reside there, the terracing should be 8 pound and the ramshackle old fire hazard should be reserved for away fans only, allowing the club to gain some much neede revenue by fleecing people that only visit once a year.
