WGCFC slip up at Carlsberg Stadium

Biggleswade Town inflicted only the second league defeat when they beat the Citizens 1 - 0 on Saturday, a mix up in defence let Ryan Redford score one of the easiest goals he will get this season although the striker should have been ruled offside moments before the ball bobbled over the goal line.

 

Visitors keeper, Rob Blackburne, made some excellent saves as the Waders pushed to extend their advantage in the first period which ended with a fracas in front of the team benches which saw managers Steve Newing and Chris Nunn asked to stand behind their dugouts by match referee Mr French.

 

The Citizens had a much better second half and were unlucky not to come away with at least a point as a draw would have been a fair result.

The Citizens go back to 15th place in the league and apart from the set back today we are still easily in touch with the teams just above them.

 

A home fixture against Kingsbury London Tigers next Saturday and the next few games can change the clubs league position dramatically upwards.
