A BRIEF HISTORY OF BARKING LADIES

In 1989 Hornchurch Women’s FC was founded, playing in the Greater London Regional League Division 3. Successive promotions to Division 1 were won in 1991 and 1992 when the club affiliated to Collier Row FC . Further promotion to the Premier Division was won in 1997 and in 1998 the club accepted an invitation to join us and became Barking ladies.

In 1999 ,following a merger with Leyton Orient Ladies, we maintained the O’s place in the F A Women’s Premier League Southern Division with the reserves in the F A Reserves League South.

At the end of 2002-3 we were relegated to the South East Combination and again at the end of 2004-5 into the Eastern Region Women’s League Premier Division in which we came 3^rd in 2009-10 and 5^th last season.

In 2000-1 and 2002-3 we won the Essex Women’s Cup,we were finalists in 1997-8, 2003-4 and 2004-5 and semi finalists in 1998-9 and 2005-6. In 2007-8 we were finalists in the Eastern Region Women’s League Cup and in 2003-4 the reserves won the Essex Women’s League Division 2 and were semi finalists in the League Cup.

We are now in the Eastern Region Women’s League Premier Division and in addition to the adult team we have girls’ under 16,under 14 and under 12 teams.
