Cammell Laird 1907 will welcome volunteers from the Blue Apple Heroes charity to their game against Hanley Town on Saturday.

The Warrington based charity supports veterans and their families across the North West with all aspects of the transitional period in readjusting to civilian life, and offers help to those suffering with combat stress related illness and issues.

A number of volunteers from the charity will attend the game on Saturday to hold a fund raising collection.

Charity Founder Mark Smith said: "Our vets often find it difficult to readjust to their new life outside of the military, and the support we offer is in a safe and comforting environment, and allows them to meet and chat with other vets and access additional support if required.

“We would like to thank the club for allowing us to make a collection at the Hanley game”.

Cammell Laird Chairman Frank Games said: “The charity approached the club via Toddy Wood our club Secretary, and we were delighted to offer to help this worthy cause. We hope that everyone who comes down to the game on Saturday will show their support".
