Happy Invicta boss target century of points

Folkestone Invicta Manager Neil Cugley could not have been happier after his Invicta side’s 4-0 win at Walton Casuals on Saturday that gave them the upper hand in the fight for runners-up spot and a possible two home play-off games next week.

In addition to that, Folkestone also look forward to what has always looked like being one of their biggest games of the season when they entertain runaway league champions Burgess Hill Town at The Fullicks Stadium on Saturday.

“We’ve still got a bit to do” says Neil, whose team need just a point to be sure of second place after tracking Kent rivals Faversham throughout the last couple of months.

“There’s every chance that Faversham could score two or three against Walton Casuals (who, coincidentally, the Lillywhtes face at home this weekend) and if we were to lose say 2-0 we’d be back down to third place.

“But at least it’s in our own hands now!”

A win over Burgess Hill would take Folkestone’s points tally for the season to 100 points – a club record at this level, compared to the 89 points that gave them runners-up spot 12 months ago.

“Whatever way anyone chooses to look at it, we’ve had a good season – with more goals and more points than last year. That’s a terrific achievement when you look at the quality players we’ve lost since last season.
