FF News
Basford United manager Martin Carruthers remains upbeat, ahead of Stockbridge Park Steels’ visit to Greenwich Avenue this Saturday (3pm ko). Speaking to BUFC Radio after the narrowest of defeats to Lincoln United on Tuesday evening, Carruthers said; “Let's be positive and talk about a good second half performance and that the goals will come. The players responded well at half time and did everything I asked but score. On another day we could have easily scored three. “We know we’ve got a lot of work to do on the training ground, in terms of getting the ball out wide and getting crosses into the box and feeding our strikers and it’s down to us as a management team to get a formation and consistency that will make us gel together. “Defensively we’re very organised and we’ve just got to tinker and work on our attacking options and be more creative going forward and once we get that, we’ll be a real force in this league.” The South Yorkshire-based outfit should pose a significant threat to Basford, after winning their two opening games of the new Evo-Stik League Division One South season, against Goole and Market Drayton. Kick-off at the Avenue is at 3pm and admission is £6 for adults, £4 concessions, £1 for Under-16s and £10 family tickets consisting of 2 adults inclusive of children. The club's admission prices are amongst the lowest in the Evo-Stik NPL and represent excellent value for money. The club will also be offering its renowned hot food special of pie & peas for just £3 thanks to the club's new sponsors Barlow's Butchers.
