FF News
Michael McNally pulled no punches in his criticism of Shrivenham's performance as they were dumped out of the FA Vase with a 6-1 defeat at Wokingham & Embrook. McNally labelled his team's performance as one of the worst he has seen in his time in football and says his players must take a long, hard look at themselves in the wake of the defeat. "I couldn't believe what I was watching. How I would describe it from the players would be effortless and spineless. It was just absolutely abysmal, really, said McNally in the Swindon Advertiser. "Out of the 16 lads who went only probably two or three can say they turned up, it's very disappointing. I know they are strong words to say but we had a chat 20 minutes after the game and went through it and perhaps I gave them a few home truths. It's now about how they react. At the end of the day, I take the flak for the results but I won't be taking that sort of performance from individuals. Over the weekend they can have a look at themselves and see if they want to be playing for this club because today's performance wasn't acceptable." "I have played for very good teams and not so good teams but whoever I played for I can guarantee that I'd give the manager and my team-mates 120 per cent of effort and commitment. Today it was probably 20 per cent and it's just not good enough." Shrivvy now have another cup game at home to East Hendred next Saturday in the B&B FA Intermediate Cup second round where McNally will be looking for a response from his troops. "Saying we have had a bit of time off would just be papering over cracks, it just wasn't good enough, added McNally. "I am still a bit sour about how we performed but come Monday I will get on with it, life goes on. At the minute it's very sore" Source: http://www.thisiswiltshire.co.uk/sport/ Source
