FF News
Prescot Cables are looking forward to receiving the full civic seal of approval on Saturday before kicking off against Warrington Town in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League. Excited Cables officials announced this week that not one but three local mayors, the leader of their local authority, their local MP and a Prescot-born UEFA official will all be at Valerie Park. The local VIPs - Mayor of Knowsley Mrs Edna Finneran, Mayor of Prescot David Friar, Mayor of Whiston David Williams, MP for Knowsley George Howarth, Knowsley Council leader Andy Moorhead and deputy chief executive John Flaherty, a former Cables player - were invited along to the First Division North clash to thank them for the support they'd shown the club in recent seasons. The club's UEFA will be racing to make it to the ground in time for kick off against the Wire after flying in on Saturday morning on a flight from Switzerland. Andrew Mercer, who works for European football's governing body as a lawyer in Nyon and is a lifelong fan having grown up in the area supporting Cables, is relying on one of his relatives Steve Roberts, also a Cables fan, to pick him up at the airport and get him to the ground in time.
