Gulls boss Nicholson demands "right attitude" for Trophy clash

Torquay United put the battle for League points to one side this weekend as they set out on the FA Trophy trail.

Having reached the semi-final last season, we will be looking to go one better this time around. Our first hurdle sees us come up against a Chesham side who despite finding themselves in the wrong half of the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division table, have enjoyed a run to the second round proper of the Emirates FA Cup, where they won at Bristol Rovers along the way.

They include the vastly experienced Barry Hayles in their ranks and player-manager, Kevin Nicholson, is not under-estimating the challenge that we face.

"We will go into the game with the right attitude," he said. "Every game is a Cup Final for us; they are all must-win where we need to make sure that our standards are high and we remain fully focussed on the task in hand.

"Chesham have had a great run in the FA Cup and they will be looking for more success in this competition. They are no mugs, but it is up to us to go out and show them what we can do.

"We're looking forward to the opportunity of starting a run in the FA Trophy. I know that the club made it to the semi-finals last year and a Cup run can really galvanise us on and off-the-field.

"It's about what we do and I will be looking to build on the positives from our last game against Wrexham and get the job done."
