NWCFL club Silsden have announced the appointment of James Gill as first team manager, in succession to Ryan Haigh who handed in his resignation at the weekend.

Haigh, who cited family reasons for his resignation, took over as manager following Andy Geary's retirement last season, having been initially the manager of The Academy side.

He began the season sharing the managerial reins with Danny Bolton, who, himself resigned for similar reasons after only two months into the 2015-16 season.

The committee have acted swiftly in asking former player, James Gill, who has been assisting Stewart Airdrie at Barnoldswick Town, to take over the post.

Gill, who has spent the last three seasons at Barnoldswick, thanked the club for the support he received during his time there.

"It's a great club and one that has a very bright future", he said.

"I'll be sad to leave a lot of friends behind, and I'd like to wish everyone involved with the club all the best for the future. Onto a new challenge for myself now."

Silsden Press Officer Jim Rosser said: "Gilly was one of the players who brought the Cobbydalers up from the lower leagues to their present position, and the Committee hopes he can have the same impact as a manager.

"He has received numerous "best wishes" from former Cobbydalers team mates and fans. "The committee hope that all the fans will get behind the new manager and his team and give them the support they deserve".
