Dennis urges Silkmen to pick themselves up after Gulls defeat

Macclesfield Town forward, Kristian Dennis, is confident that the Silkmen can dust themselves off after a few unfortunate results and get the momentum back on their side.

Earlier in the week, Macclesfield were knocked out of the FA Trophy following a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Torquay, despite being the better team for the majority of the game. The 25-year-old was gutted with the result and he felt it just wasn’t Macc’s night in front of goal.

Dennis said: “It’s frustrating when we were so close to Wembley at that stage, but we’ve just got to pick ourselves up from it and go again against Dover and try to get the win.

“We thought we would get the breakthrough against Torquay, usually we always score but I can’t really put my finger on it, the finishing just wasn’t on point.”

Although the Silkmen deserved a better result on the night after a dominant display, Dennis believed that it would be hard to take positives from the game as the cup is ultimately about progressing to the next round, no matter how well you play.

“There isn’t really any other positives we can take from that game because it was a cup performance and it doesn’t matter how you play or how you get the win it’s just about getting through to the next round but unfortunately we couldn’t do that.”
