Match signals new relationship for Nuneaton

A match took place at MOD, Stafford on Wednesday as a token of appreciation from Nuneaton Town with Gamecock Barracks, Nuneaton, home to 30 Signal Regiment and the Queen's Gurkha Signals.

This fixture was in part to draw attention to an agreement reached for the club to use facilities at the barracks and for the club to extend its involvement in the community which will allow in return the Signal Regiments to utilise facilities at Liberty Way in the future.

Unfortunately, the game was played in very wet conditions but good football was enabled due to the magnificent artificial playing facility at MOD Stafford, which allowed the match to be very competitive and entertaining.

Manager Kevin Wilson put out an almost complete first-team for the first half, with an opportunity in the second half for the remainder of the playing staff to demonstrate their capabilities. The scoreline was of no consequence to the actual occasion as this was all about forming friendships and the Royal Corps of Signals extended their hospitality after the final whistle, giving time for all to engage socially with each other.

Nuneaton will now move to build upon this relationship and are pleased to further announce they will be signing up to the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant thus showing a determined commitment towards the National League's recent endeavours set in late January for all member clubs to do so with their locally based Armed Forces unit.
