Eton Manor memories

Recommended Posts

According to the Manor programme v Billericay in the Essex Senior Cup semi-final replay on March 2nd 1976.. the " finest single performance by Eton Manor was in 1964/65 when the following side beat an Enfield team containing 10 internationals in the London Senior Cup .... Hards: Denney : Read : Hellier : Rose : Glover : Woolcott : Collett : Huckett : Pellicci : Kempton " . There is no doubt in my mind that the 1937/38 London League Championship and County Cup finalists were excellent ( see web-site ) going down 1-3 aet against Romford in a replay at Ilford's ground and the 1953 London League Championship side also sparked off a great four year run of Big Amateur club bashing .. Wilson : Sims : Lester : Turner : Parmenter : Bridges : Elgar : Wilson : Mahoney : Starkey : Kaley : Lee : Wells : Wood . Do you also remember playing Molesey in November 1975 in the F A Vase and Cyrille Regis was in the visiting side... Oh sweet memories , now back to the turkey sandwiches !

Further reference to the 1956-57 side comes in a Canvey programme of 1986-87 when it refers to a photograph in the previous weeks programme (23.8.86) at Eton Manor showing the team with their " coach, Alf Ramsey " who, ten years later achieved what, I suppose no other ESL manager can yet boast ... so far folks ! Come on the Manor - let's see THAT photo on the web-site !
