FF News Posted March 2, 2015 Share Posted March 2, 2015 THE coveted Barclays Premier League Trophy will be displayed proudly at Concord Rangers' Aspect Arena on Saturday as part of the club’s annual Community Day. A couple of no-nonsense security guards will accompany the famous prize, which will be available for fans to pose for photographs with in the clubhouse at Thames Road. The trophy will be dressed in the colours of current champions Manchester City and Concord’s community officer Phil Crowe admits it will be a rare chance for local West Ham and Tottenham fans to get near the famous gong! He said: “We managed to pull a few string to get it here and I’m sure it will be a big attraction. “To be fair, we are used to looking after a few trophies here at Concord Rangers, so we know how to take care of it. “And it will be a rare chance for long-suffering West Ham fans like myself to finally get close to the biggest prize in English football!” It will be free admission to the ground for everyone on a day when Concord’s increasingly successful first-team host St Albans in an attractive Vanarama South league fixture at 3pm. Punters will get the chance to make a donation to Canvey’s brilliant local charity, the Indee Rose Trust, who provide treasure boxes to children diagnosed with brain or spinal tumours. Children (and grown-ups!) can have their faces painted and play on bouncy castles for free, and club photographer Andy Smith will be available to take pictures, which will be available for free online afterwards. Castle Point mayor Jackie Govier and MP Rebecca Harris will be in attendance to help with some presentations to some of Concord’s longest-serving players. There will be a cheque presentation from the Football Conference Trust for funding towards the club’s work in the community, and at hlaf-time there will be a Tiny Tekkers coaching session for children aged two to six.
