FF News
At the final Vanarama Conference home game against Torquay Utd last Saturday and as a result of FC Halifax Town’s progress to the First Round of the FA Cup in the 2013-2014 season, the Club were able to nominate and allocate a share of £2,000 by way of donation to three local charities. The Charities nominated had to be registered with the Charity Commission and allocated specifically to charities within the local area of the Football Club. FC Halifax Town nominated and welcomed for the presentations Kay Lund of the Alzeimer’s Society for Calderdale, Michelle Wood from the Maurice Jagger Centre for the Disabled & Elderly of Calderdale and John McGall from Calderdale DART (Disabled Advice Resource Team). The process of providing the funds is generated by the FA and respective partners and the two teams who compete annually for the Community Shield, the teams being the Premier League Champions and the FA Cup winners. A total of £248,000 is split evenly between 124 teams competing in the FA Cup from the First Round Proper and then local nominations are put forward under strict criteria for approval. It is excellent that the choice of charity is determined by the Club and allows charities in the immediate local area to benefit from vitally needed resource to help their vital activities. The remainder of the funds generated are donated to The FA Charity Partners as well as the World War 1 Centenary commemorations. Breast Cancer Care has been chosen by the Community Shield Distribution Committee and FA Group Staff as The FA’s Official Charity Partner until July 2016. Previous recipients have been the Bobby Moore Fund, The Bobby Robson Foundation and the Homeless Football Association.
