Leiston boss sees positives in stalemate

Leiston returned to the Ryman Premier Division play off places following their goal-less draw at VCD Athletic.

Following the game Blues boss Richard Wilkins spoke to Blues on-line;

"We are slightly disappointed that our first half dominance didn't bring the goal we deserved. Both (Tom) Bullard and Leon (Ottley-Gooch) saw goal bound efforts very well saved by the VCD keeper.

We moved the ball well through the midfield and looked like carving them open at will but often the final ball was delayed or the wrong choice so many great opportunities went begging".

After a bright opening half and with the Blues on top the second half was not as exciting as the first but equally as frustrating as Wilkins explains;

"Second half the wind was stronger and helped their play more than ours. We had a good chance when Heathy (Gareth Heath) dragged a shot wide when clear of their defence on 52 minutes, but this was really our only chance of the second half.

Like the first half we had the lions share of possession but again lacked a bit of quality and composure in the final third. All in all a clean sheet and lots of positives from the game but not the three points we were after".
