FF News Posted September 26, 2016 Share Posted September 26, 2016 Dorchester Town midfielder Ollie Bassett has been called up by Northern Ireland while on loan in the Evo-Stik League Southern's top flight. The 18-year-old, who is still training full-time with Yeovil Town and arrived last week on a 28-day loan spell from the League Two club, has been called up by Northern Ireland's U19s for three European Championship qualifiers in five days in Poland in early October against Slovakia, Macedonia and the host nation. Originally from Packington North West Leicestershire, he became the Glovers’ youngest ever Football League player when he made his debut against Crawley Town in September 2015. He impressed the Yeovil Town management enough to earn a professional contract that keeps him at Huish Park until June 2017. On Wednesday night, Bassett came on as a 79th-minute substitute for his Magpies’ debut in a 4-0 win at Frome Town, assisting in the visitors’ fourth goal which saw Nathan Walker complete a hat-trick. Bassett said: “It’s nice to go and get another call and go away and play some competitive football in a different country against some good opposition. To get called up again is fantastic.” When he returns from Poland, the midfielder hopes to negotiate a second loan period with the Magpies. He is set to make his home debut at The Avenue Stadium against St Neots Town on Saturday in the EVO-STIK League Southern's Premier Division after recently returning from a three-day training camp with the Northern Ireland U19 squad.
