Quakers' Wright will issue Wembley reminder ahead of FA Trophy tie

Darlington manager Tommy Wright will be emphasising to his players ahead of tonight's FA Buildbase Trophy third qualifying round tie how much an appearance at Wembley will mean to them.

Wright's last touch of a ball as a Darlington player in his second spell was to head against the crossbar in the 2011 FA Trophy final, then poacher Chris Senior was quickly first to the rebound and headed the ball home for the winner against Mansfield at Wembley.

The 33-year-old says that playing and winning at Wembley was the highlight of his career, and he wants his players to sample the experience of playing at the Arch.

"I've watched that goal over and over again – not as many times as Chris Senior though! "he said. "It was a fantastic day all round. I didn't feel sharp enough, which was why I missed those chances in the final!

"That day had a big positive effect on me, and I have massive respect for an FA Trophy run. Every season, wherever I've been a manager, I explain to the players how much it means for a footballer to appear at Wembley, and there's no reason why our lads can't get there.

"Clubs from our division have done well in the past, just a few years ago North Ferriby got to the final and beat Wrexham. This club over the last few years has enjoyed success, so we know what winning feels like and we should remember how hard we had to work to enjoy that success."
