West Searching Once Again Following Toman Exit

Northern League Division One club West Auckland Town are looking for another manager following the resignation of Andy Toman.

The former Darlington and Hartlepool United midfielder took over as interim manager from Anth Smith a month ago when the former Gateshead boss quit and eventually went to Spennymoor Town to become Jason Ainsley's assistant manager.

At that point, Toman was the club's fourth manager of the season following Peter Dixon and another caretaker, Steve Skinner.

However, he quit after West lost 3-0 at home to Newton Aycliffe last week.

General manager Stuart Alderson said: "Andy has resigned because he felt it was difficult to stamp his authority on the players because he was an interim manager. We're hoping to appoint a new manager next week, which we were planning to do anyway."

Alderson, along with senior player Brian Close, were in charge of the team in Saturday's shock Durham Challenge Cup Third Round exit at Wearside League outfit Easington Colliery.
