Can Maidenhead Make It 35 Finals??

On Tuesday, Maidenhead will attempt to reach their 35th Berks & Bucks Cup final ...
... when they entertain Chesham United at York Road for the right to play Marlow or Aylesbury United, reports Mark Smith.

The Generals reached this stage of the competition by defeating Beaconsfield SYCOB 4-0 in the quarter-final. This game was a repeat of last season's final which Chesham won 1-0 at Windsor in front of the lowest ever paying attendance to watch a final of just 91, whilst the Buckinghamshire club were also losing finalists in the 2012 and 2013 competitions when they defeated the Magpies in the semi-final on both occasions.

Maidenhead's record in recent years has been extremely disappointing. Despite being the top non-league club in the pyramid system since 2007, the Magpies have just reached three finals, winning one and losing two. With nothing other than a respectable league position in Conference South to play for, it would be nice to secure a place in the final to give the club and the supporters something to look forward to at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, the Generals are again pushing hard to secure a play-off place in the Southern League Premier Division and are currently 7th and unbeaten in their last seven league games. They have reached the play-offs in the last three seasons losing in the semi-final to AFC Totton in 2012, Hemel Hempstead Town in 2013, and the 2014 final to St Albans City. It really would be heartbreaking for the Buckinghamshire side to reach the play-offs in 2015 and not win the competition to secure a thoroughly deserved place in Conference South.

Kick-off is at 7.45pm and the game must be played to a conclusion with extra-time and penalties if necessary.
