Vanarama Conference North side Stockport County has been handed a €1,000 donation from the General Director of European giants Dynamo Kiev.

The personal gift was presented to the club by Kiev's General Director Rezo Chokhonelidze, with the cheque being handed to County's former Director Christian Machowski, the Managing Director of ESEM, Euro Sport & Event Management.

Christian, who remains a season ticket holder at Edgeley Park, said: "Mr Chokhonelidze always asks me about the progress of the club and takes a very active interest in events at Stockport County. ESEM has been working very closely with Kiev this season during their European campaign, and he made the donation during the club's recent trip to Liverpool, whilst we were looking after them at their team hotel."

Stockport County has already written to Mr Chokhonelidze to thank him for his generous donation. Director Jon Keighren said: "We are extremely grateful to Mr Chokhonelidze, not only for the donation, but also for his continuing interest in Stockport County. Perhaps one day we can persuade them to come over for a friendly!"

Throughout their history the Ukrainian side has won 26 national titles, 18 cup competitions and three continental titles including two UEFA Cup Winners' Cups.

Christian Machowski has handled more than 350 European and international fixtures, as well as training camp projects, and was involved in Euro 96, the World Cup in 2006 and the Champions' League Finals in 2002 and 2013. As well as being a popular former Director and a regular visitor to Edgeley Park, he also has a season ticket for Spanish side Malaga. Christian has worked closely with Dynamo Kiev for several years and a picture of Christian with Andrei Shevchenko is still on display at Edgeley Park.
