FF News
Henley Town continue with their hectic programme of eight games in twenty days this week, but they have no match on Saturday. They will next be in action on Monday, when they visit Burnham Reserves for a league fixture, kicking off at 7.45 p.m. A large proportion of the Red Kites’ many postponements this season relate to the home and away games with Burnham, and the match at The Gore was actually started in November but abandoned at half-time because of a waterlogged pitch with Henley 3-2 in front. Three-two in Henley’s favour was also the margin after 90 minutes when the sides met at the Invesco Perpetual Triangle last month. In a season in which the results of so many teams have defied all prediction, Burnham’s have been the most erratic of them all. Most recently, since beating potential champions Wokingham and Emmbrook, they have lost six matches in a row, the game at Henley amongst them. Though Burnham, with three games to play, currently stand bottom but one, they can still rise several places but cannot finish last. The Town will again be engaged in the league next Thursday, when they entertain Easington Sports, kick-off 7.45 p.m. This is the match originally advertised for last night (Thursday), but Henley’s victory over Chinnor last week led to a change of fixture, with Lydney Town visiting for the Bluefin Sports Hellenic Supplementary Cup quarter-final instead.
