Lincoln United condemn racist comment by supporter

Lincoln United club officials have acted quickly to condemn the racist comment aimed at one of the Mickleover Sports players by a United fan at their final home game of the season.

United chairman, Malcolm Cowling, said: "We pride ourselves in being a family, all-inclusive Club and Saturday's incident involving one of our fans and a Mickleover player cannot be tolerated.

The fan, himself, has tendered a very sincere apology for a totally out-of-character comment made in the heat of the moment but we will be taking every possible step to make sure something like this doesn't happen again.

I would like to apologise personally to anyone who may have seen the incident and was upset by it. I hope that it didn't detract from what has been an excellent season for the Club during which we have seen some great football and fantastic support.

We are now preparing for what we hope will be an even better next season and we hope we can count on your continuing support"
