Barwell boss Jimmy Ginnelly has tipped midfielder Brady Hickey to make it to the big time as he trained with the first team at Leicester City this week.

Despite making the jump from training with Northern League players to Premier League players, Ginnelly is confident that the youngster will shine.

The Barwell boss said: "Brady is one of them. He is a naturally gifted footballer and an outstanding lad. He is one I am sure will make it to the big-time. I am sure he is good enough technically to make a difference. He has got the right attitude to go along with that

Hickey only joined Barwell this summer and has scored 11 goals in his 20-odd games so far.

Ginnelly admitted he knew he had to sign the player as soon as he saw him.

He said: "Brady was playing for his dad's team, St Andrews, and we played them last season. He stood out from the first whistle. He was head and shoulders above some of them out there. He just had something special. I did my research and found out he was England schoolboy and was just being a loyal kid playing for his dads team.

That is when we came in and since then he has been a different class."

The teenager did not take long to adjust to life at Barwell.

Despite his young years Ginnelly said he had no doubts about throwing him straight into the first team.

The Barwell boss said: "Sometimes you just have to go on talent. Not on age. I have got the likes of Rich Lavery playing and doing well at 38, and Iyseden Christie doing well at the same age. They are doing well at one end of the scale and Brady is doing well at the other end.

"It is about picking those players who are good enough – not who are the right age."
