Tamworth have entered into an exciting new partnership with Birmingham City University

The partnership, which will be piloted until the end of the 2015/16 football season, will see Birmingham School of Media students gaining hands on practical experience.

Initially, the partnership will focus on four key areas, these being Social Media, Audio and Visual Communications, Sports Journalism, and Public Relations, with the potential to expand further in 2016/17.

Lambs General Manager George Delves explained the thinking behind the project. “One of the key aims for us here at Tamworth is to improve the visibility of the club on a local, regional, and even a national scale.

"Like many non-League clubs, we have limited resources with which to achieve this, so it was vital to find a partner who could assist us.

“Having investigated a number of options, we chose BCU mainly due to the professionalism and enthusiasm of their students. As a group, they are full of ideas, so I’m sure that together we can get some really innovative and effective work done between now and June.”

Birmingham School of Media is one of the highest rated media schools in the UK, and moved to new purpose-built premises in 2013, next door to the city’s iconic Millennium Point. Cutting-edge facilities include five state-of-the-art TV studios, together with seven radio studios and post-production suites.

BCU Lecturer Nick Moreton, who will help facilitate the project, stated that it was; “a great opportunity for the students to experience a placement where their work will be at the core of the club's operations, and will have a tangible impact.”

BCU student Sam Townsend said: “It's great to be approached by a traditional football club with big ambitions" while Oliver Shepherd added: "We're all honoured to have this opportunity to help promote the club and boost our experience.”
