Herne Bay's former programme editor Steve Barton is showcasing the extraordinary story of one of the Ryman South club's fans for the Kent FA's #MagicOfTheCup competition.

Dixon's conversion from being a Spurs season ticket holder to a regular face at Winch's Field three years ago is being shared with fans around Kent thanks to the social media competition which was launched at the start of the season after the Kent FA teamed up with Kent Reliance, sponsors of their cup competitions.

To enter and win football equipment each month between September and February, clubs have to submit images or special moments from their Kent Cup games and the stories behind them.

As the #MagicOfTheCup competition covers inspirational stories of spectators as well as the action on the pitch, club officials reckon Dixon's story definitely fits the bill.

Originally from Bromley before moving further out into Kent and now a 15 minute stroll from their ground, the supporter fell in love with the club on his first visit for a work's do in 2012. Already fed up with the increasing costs of watching top level football and the change in atmosphere since the introduction of all-seater stadiums, Ken soon switched his regular allegiance on matchdays to the then Kent County League high-flyers.

The spectator's story also has another key twist that is certain to impress the competition's judges. As someone who suffers from Glaucoma, Photophobia and a number of other serious eye conditions, he is almost totally blind. However, he has found the perfect solution, viewing games through his mobile phone, pictured, and subsequently sharing the recordings with fellow fans!
