Ebac Northern League club Whitley Bay have announced that assistant manager Paul Johnson has left the club.

The club have already confirmed that former Newcastle United academy coach Steve Common will step up into the role vacated by Johnson.

A statement on the club website said" The Club would like to formally announce the resignation of Paul Johnson as assistant manager. Paul resigned due to a disagreement with some board directors which he felt left his position untenable.

The Club would like to thank Paul for all his efforts and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.

Replacing Paul is Steve Common who has coaching experience at Newcastle United and was their Under 14 coach last season"
