McCartney

Recommended Posts

Just downloaded the new Macca single - will be premiering in my office shortly!

Talking of Macca, I'm going to do the diversion to Vegas, Gertch. I understand that you don't want to spend the money, but I'm desperate to go, so will leave you in New York for a few hours if that's okay? I hear there's a good red light district there to keep you amused anyway!!

Cheers to Colin for dropping me in it with Mrs Z yesterday too!!

Will do.

Macca single - interesting discords in the fade-out, but the verses are way too bland. Sounds like one of the poorer tracks off Flaming Pie.

Can't help thinking that time and time again, he chooses the wrong tracks to be the first single off a new album. Hope Of Deliverance (Off The Ground) and Young Boy (Flaming Pie) were similarly as disappointing.

The b-sides fare a little better. Growing Up Falling Down in particular is quite a weird piece - you can tell it's produced by the same guy as Radiohead!

Can't wait for the album, though! I'm sure it'll improve upon Driving Rain!

No I haven't. When I was in Slipped Disc in Billericay, he got the single out expecting me to buy it, played it to me and, I quote myself here "Well that has scuppered the thought that the album would be any good and up to his best..."

And following on from that, answer this, why is it Paul, George, John & Ringo all possess the power to disapoint so much with their solo output? I mean, it isn't through lack of talent or greatness.

I think it might be

Anyway I'm prepeared to give McCartney the chance but I'm still waiting for the details of the trip?
I mean if they don't want me to go then just say otherwise I can't see the hold up in the details, stuff like that would surely be at their fingertips.

Huh? Is this to see the great man live?

Seen him....Southend Cliff's Pavilion, Wemberly Arena on the Light Fantastic tour, god knows when. He was brilliant...and the band were brilliant!!! Live And Let Die....he rips Gun's & Roses version to shreads!!!

Got the last couple of Macca live DVD's and they are good as well...so, maybe I will see him again. He has a top guitarist very similar to the first lead guitarist that was in Wings....Henry Wassisname. Both bloody good rock guiatrists!!!

You bang on about how much you hate America so why do you want to come ?

And anyway you hardly ever go out with your mates these days so are you sure you want to spend 10 days away with them, and more importantly would you be allowed by the doris ?

Nice try from distrating from the subject, just because I'm not partial to the American administration doesn't mean I wouldn't like to visit the country and who better than with my two good mates gertcha and Zeal.

And I was with my mates all weekend, you seem to forget as you were there as well and considering we often go a couple of weeks without seeing each other I'm sure my doris won't mind and if she does then tough.

So the details please!!!!!!

Yeah but your bird will be living in London by then - or maybe St.Albans if that other thing comes off.

I'll speak to Paul, but I don't really want you to go if you are slagging off the places and the people the whole time we are there because you don't like them.

I'm sure Paul wouldn't take an Arsenal fan to every Spurs home game.

Gazza - I went to this tour too. 21st January 1990 was the date of the show I saw. Brilliant, but eclipsed by the Earls Court one a couple of years back. Just superb.

I still have high hopes for the album, Gazza. Particularly as Nigel Godrich produced.

As for his guitarist, well none of his band played on the album. I presume he still has the same band live, though.

McCulloch would be the surname of Henry. It was he who invented the wonderful guitar solo on My Love - what a gorgeous solo that is.

I love the Wingspan DVD - there's a great Wings (bootleg) DVD on Ebay at the minute, which I'm going to buy.

My favorite is For Our Children's, Children, Children...but there you go, That is about the Moodies...they don't really inspire a debate.

Was playing the Ringo album the other day. Went to a boot fair and there was the LP, book and everything for £1....perfect condition as well...so of course, I bought it...I have it on CD but it is nice to have the original in all it's glory.
