Stevenage Borough have agreed terms with Charleston Battery for the transfer of Dino Maamria.
The Tunisian striker, recently signed from Leigh for a five-figure fee, will sign a three-year deal for the North American side, but intends to return on loan each season if Boro require his services.
The arrangement also provides for Borough to have a major share in any future transfer fee for the free scoring forward.
Chairman Phil Wallace said: "Graham and I both knew that Dino wanted to go to the States this summer and we were confident we could work out a deal that suited all parties.
"The season over there runs from April to August so it fits quite nicely with our season should we need him back each year.
"It was an aggressive move to buy him but the value of his two goals against Barnet that put us on the road to survival were worth the money on their own.''
