Fleet boss McMahon rues Harrington's injury luck

Ebbsfleet United boss Daryl McMahon is awaiting further news of Lloyd Harrington’s injury after the 21-year-old was carried off just 10 minutes into his Fleet first-team debut on Tuesday night at Maidstone.

“There’s no obvious break thankfully,” McMahon told FleetOnline, “but there’s still a lot of swelling so there will need to be an MRI scan. It’s always difficult to tell with the amount of swelling in there what the injury is but the fact there’s no obvious break is good news, so hopefully nothing untoward will be found in the MRI.

“Lloyd’s devastated and understandably so. He’s been through two cruciate injuries, he’s worked ever so hard to get back to fitness and then his first game for the club at last, he has to go off after 10 minutes. It’s just unbelievably bad luck for him.”

The Fleet boss predicts the former Dover defender will bounce back, despite the obvious misfortune of his latest setback.

“He’s a tough boy,” said McMahon. “He’s been through a lot and he’ll come through this. But on the bright side, he knows he’s got a club that will back him and support him. I believe in him as a player and I’ve known him quite a long time. And the boys in the dressing room will rally around him too and together we’ll get him back up and running as soon as we can.”
