FF News Posted December 5, 2016 Share Posted December 5, 2016 Chesham United manager Andy Leese has thanked Chippenham Town and the Wiltshire Air Ambulance for the help they gave to Bruce Wilson after the double leg break his skipper suffered in Saturday's abandoned EVO-STIK League Southern top flight clash. The match came to an agonising end for the Generals captain, pictured in action, soon after the break at Hardenhuish Park when he dislocated an ankle and broke his tibia and fibula after landing awkwardly while challenging in the air. Clearly in immediate distress, the 32-year-old former Hemel Hempstead Town, St Neots Town and Windsor & Eton player was airlifted to hospital in Swindon and treated overnight. In a statement on Sunday updating fans on his condition, the Generals boss said the midfielder was likely to be operated on today (Sunday) after thanking those involved in caring for him and everyone in the game who'd sent messages of support. Leese, who visited Wilson in hospital at lunchtime, said: "We thank the ambulance crew, Wiltshire Air Ambulance Service, doctor and all at Chippenham Town for their assistance and support and for doing as much as possible for Bruce before his transfer to hospital. Bruce is in good hands, undergoing treatment, and we will bring you any further news as we receive it. "His ankle was manipulated back in place last night and the plan is to operate on him today to possibly plate or pin the leg break. Bruce is made of tough stuff, probably our fittest player and mentally strong. If anyone can deal with the injury, I know Bruce can.
