Chalfont St Peter v Stony Stratford Town

Admission 500p Programme 100p

Attendance about 40

Refreshments - hot drinks 80p

Chalfont's ground consists of an old mostly wooden stand which seats roughly 200, and a long stretch of cover attached to the clubhouse. They plan to build a new stand to comply for promotion, but if they're relying on home fans to sponsor it's building as it seems from the programme, then they'll be in for a long wait. They do however have the seats ready!

Chalfont had the lion's share early doors and took the lead on 30 minutes with a fine piece of individual control and volley combo. It looked like being a rout but slowly stony came into it and equalised with a deflected lob on 42. Then it was chances galore at both ends during the second period, and onward into extra time. Chalfont hit the bar twice, while Stony had SIX decent chances to win it during stoppage time of normal time. It seemed like this game would go on forever, and there was even late drama right at the death. The Stony no. 5 failed to despatch his sides 8th. penalty, as the Chalfont players went on their victory charge the ref called for the penalty to be retaken, only for the Chalfont keeper to save it again!

In true footballing cliche style, neither side deserved to lose this. Great game in poor conditions.
