Concord Rangers Fc V BILLERICAY TOWN FC

Recommended Posts

If your going to go around calling people Mindless Moron's i think you should start by looking a little closer to home prittlewellblue.

I agree a lot of us Ricky fans did indeed shout some abuse at the officials (and i use that term very loosely) no more than they deserved. Even your own supporters knocked the ref's display. And If your manager shouted for a free ye were given it more times than not.

But i must say all that aside it was nice to visit your ground today and to meet some very pleasant fellow football fan's.

Good luck for the future...

I dont think at this time it is constructive to start laying the blame so instead maybe its time to ask positive questions so that as a club we can move forward. Some questions that have crossed my mind in recent weeks are
1 Why did we let kerrers go? Ok maybe it was felt that we had better options but to keep him in case of injury or in case our other options did not work out for at least 3 months seems a better way to me. 2 Why did we let Blewitt go? We knew for instance that Heffs was talking his coaching badge so would not really be wanting to play a full season this year? Would it be possible to get an older keeper in with some experience? I think that both Jack and Ronnie have done great jobs for us this year but they are both so young and I feel that by chopping and changing them we may not be helping them in the long term. They are great prospects but are we asking too much of them I wonder? As for today, why did we have Harrison on the bench and not use him? when we were 2-1 down the only way back in a cup match is to score and that seemed unlightly with poor Billy limping up front after we were told he only had a 50 - 50 chance of playing. And when you are down to 9 men so early I think we might have been better to use all our subs. I don't think we used all three or did we? I have just had a count up and realised that we did use all three :-) but I still dont really know why we did not use harrison or why Billy played the full 90+ mins when he was limping? I know this is a bit of a rant, and with everyone else I guess I am just frustrated and I hope some of you guys can tell me the answers to some of my questions and I can sleep better. On paper I still think we have a good team and I know we have a great club.

Nice post. Raises some good points for discussion. Agree that although the ref was crap both Reds were correct and we only have ourselves to blame for the outcome. But full marks to the remainder of the squad who finished the game. I thought they put in a lot of hard work & passion and deserved far more for their efforts.

I'm not knowledgeable enough to call into question the thinking behind any of the managements decisions, but swapping DW for Sol at the break didn't seem to work.

Ash, I believe, does a good job & should be the least of our concerns. It's not his fault if he fails to tick every box that was used to justify releasing Kerrers.

So, we managed to beat ourselves today. Two or three mindless moments from individuals who you'd expect to know a lot better, and Concord were the benificiary. We now have more suspensions to add to the injury woes.

It's not shaping up to be one of our better campaigns is it?

It's a well used cliche that footballers are a bit short in the brains department.

On today's evidence we have some idiots of Olympic standard. With the personnel problems we have and the pressures that all of the playing staff are being asked to perform under at the moment, the blind stupidity of Shave and Flack defies belief.

It was hard to see how it could get worse than Tuesday, yet it did. I would like to say that our remaining 9 players (and 3 subs used) did as much as they reasonably could but it was always going to be a massive task to rescue anything from the game.

You can feel that the clock is ticking and that the explosion is imminent. I just hope for the management's sake that they are the ones that trigger it and that they don't wait for it to be triggered. The time for action is now.

Our last two games - hastings and today. At hastings.. we gave them all of their goals, although it was a worse performance than today.

Today flacky and shavesy basically gifted them the game.

So i ask, why are we gifting the goals/games to the opposite team? Instead of our team?

No you cant help the sendings off today, supporters or management cant help that, but why havent these two players especially, been told to stop lunging in at people? Because it will result in what happened today? Surely someone has to stop this! And should have stopped it already

have to agree that keep chopping and changing goal keepers is not on, although they are only as good as there defence. Ronnie had played well last season when Billy was injured. My belief is that Ronnie is an experienced keeper and the better of the two.He has not been given a chance to prove himself because of all the changes that the management make within the team. How can we expect to be winning anything when the team keeps chopping and changing. This is not giving the team a chance to gell together.

I think that Ronnie has been made a scape goat in the past I have been told that Ronnie kept 18/19 clean sheets in approx 50 matches not bad for a 19/20 year old. And there appears to be a total lack of goalkeeping knowledge within the coaches in the the club, if we had someone like Jim Stannard as our goalkeeper coach then he would know that Ronnie is the better keeper by a country mile. There is so much unknoweledgeable coaches regarding the goal keeper postion. I was a goal keeper myself and turned it in because of a serious knee injury. I did not play at high level but I had good coaching and I know what I am talking about when it comes to goal keepers. At this level of football I believe that it is crucial to have a knowledgeable ex keeper as a coach.

I find the altitude of the moral high ground being taken by some, making it a little hard for me to take a breath...

...It's a shame that some of you are not as eloquent in praise of the team and club when things have gone well as you are in your condemnation shown on this message link.

Gazza you'll be needing to climb down from yer high horse mate would not like to see you caught for breath (not for to long anyway) evil

I'm not sure which threads you find yourself reading but in the main credit is normally dished out where it is due on this forum as is condemnation (at times) when it's called for.

It's a Forum mate.

Oh and just to make you feel happy

Well done to those of the team left on the pitch great effort one and all.

Here I go where?

If you or anyone wishes to replace me as Chairman of the BTSA and take on my duties, then be my guest.

I am as disapointed as all of you by the result and by what happened yesterday but there have been many of the supporters who have "dug" out the players from the terraces and on this forum and they don't have a right of reply. Most of you have the privallege to be anonymous. I think some of us would've been better served with taking a breath and maybe delaying their posts with a good nights sleep behind them...but you all have the right to an opinion and by that course, so do I...

Very few of you have actually mentioned the effort put in by those players that were on the pitch for the full 90. And some of you happen to forget that the players we have are a tight knit team which some of you are on speaking terms...

I think the tone of this thread has been supportive of the team yesterday, except those individuals who cost us the game through ill-discipline. At the end of the game everyone made a point of giving the team, and the management, a resounding round of applause in appreciation of their "against all odds" effort.

It's nothing to do with "moral high ground". The team, the management & the support were all let down.

You wouldn't expect it to go without comment, nor should it.

EDIT:- Just read the Chairmans Blog & Dave Wareham was replaced at half time due to an injury.

After having a minute or two to focus on yesterdays events (and some time to get away from the forum to do chores), if I am allowed, I will comment on the game.

As disapointed as I was, I thought the 9 that were left on the pitch did well. I know he isn't everyone's fav but it was nice to see Leon play the roving attacking midfield role he did so well two or three seasons ago (what other option did he have when we were chasing the game?). Fergie was "hamstrung" when we defending the 1 nil lead by playing deeper but he as well as all the others battled bravely. It would've been some kind of miracle to have kept the score line to 1 nil and come away with a win...

I am going to get drawn in to a comment about those players that go sent off. 1) I have never played football at that level and therefore am not the best person to comment (perhaps I / we should apply this to my / our views on the officials - any officials - for the same reason) 2) A person does not become a "villan" by making a mistake over night. We have praised these players for what they have done for the club in the past and when guilty of a "mistake" (for want of a better word) they deserve some condemnation but IMO, there is a line. I do not know of anywhere, where any of us, should we do anything as c*ck up as they did yesterday, would appreciate the tone of some of the comments as have been posted here, from a mostly annoymous source (that is my opinion and you can all argue the point). 3) As a supporter, I do have a relationship with the players and management by which I do communicate my opinions personally and wish to keep this intact.

I will also say that the support yesterday was superb. It is difficult to remain positive in aversity but that is what we have to do. Lack of confiedence, frustration is a dark cloud which mannifests itself in many ways and will affect the whole club if we all walk down that path. It is times like now when the club requires our support, energy and confiedence to affect the players, the team, the management and the club. Now is not the time to stop supporting the club, whatever your frustations.

Shave and Flackie deserve to get slaughtered mate. I think they've got off lightly.

The "mistake" that Shavesie made when he launched into a two-footed knee high challenge 30 seconds after having been booked is indefensible. How many yellows (mistakes?)is that this season?

Flackie should already have been subbed off before he had the opportunity to make his "mistake" but that's opening another can of worms. He knew he was coming off and he still did that! The mind boggles....It's indefensible.

The tone of someone's comments on here is surely down to how the reader perceives them. I am happy to praise the team when I think the team have done well and I'll critcise them if I think they've under-performed - but in the situation we are in generally and were in in that game what they did was absolutely Barking and imo have hurt the Club badly and if I think that, then I'm going to say it.

And btw the tone of my post is seething.
