Still no web site access.  Summary of last night's Suburban match herewith:

Ashford’s Suburban side drew one apiece with early pace setters Tooting & Mitcham on Wednesday evening in a pulsating match that was a pleasure to watch.  Both teams went at it hammer and tongs from the start and on an evening made for football, with a slick wet pitch and little rain, it made for good viewing.

Ashford included Harry Driver, signed from Bedfont Sports, who was making his debut and it was the home side who made all the early running, referee King failing to award what looked a nailed on penalty from the sidelines.  Against the run of play though, it was Tooting who took the lead with a well worked goal.  Ashford equalised shortly before the break when leading scorer (despite playing left back) Joe Lynch seized on to a rebound from the visiting keeper to put the sides level.

The second half followed the same pattern although it was the visitors who were more dominant in this period.  No-one was able to break the deadlock though and the match finished with both teams deserving their point.  For Ashford, Lynch and his fellow full back Ryan Dearden, must be close to 1st Team contention whilst skipper Danny Byron was a candidate for Ashford’s “man of the match” with his decisive midfield play.

The Suburban side do not have a match on Saturday, returning to action on Wednesday next week, when they entertain Berkhamsted in the 1st Round, 1st leg of the Suburban League Cup.  This will hopefully be the last Wednesday home fixture for the side as the League have agreed to schedule all further Suburban League home matches for Monday evenings, which is appreciated.
