FF News
John Askey has expressed his delight with Macclesfield Town’s 3-2 victory at Wrexham on Saturday. The Silkmen endured a sodden 90 minutes at the Racecourse Ground but the Silkmen boss believes the pitch conditions suited his side a lot more than it did the hosts. The win means Macclesfield leapfrog the Welsh side in the Vanarama National League into 7th place, just two points off the play-off places. “We knew if we come here and got a win it would put us in a good position, so to come and perform and score three goals away from home is really pleasing. “We were always looking to get close to the play-offs around Christmas time,” he said. With torrential downpours before and during the game, puddles appeared on the pitch and appeared to have an impact on the movement of the ball. Askey said: “To be honest I think the conditions suited us. They like to pass it and move it quickly but pitches like that, as you saw when we played Guiseley, seem to suit us.” Kristian Dennis picked up a brace before Danny Whitaker rounded off the win to help the Silkmen pick up their fourth consecutive win. The club therefore completed November with a 100% league record. Source: www.mtfc.co.uk Source
