The Blackburn-born player spent time with the likes of Blackpool, Southampton and Preston North End, before moving into non-league football to play with Wrexham and Padiham. And he announced the decision to bring down the curtain on his twenty year career via his Twitter account. He tweeted "At 39 it's time to hang up the boots , a big thanks to family and friends and everyone who has supported me , it's been a crazy ride thanks!"
