Truro City chairman Peter Masters today signed the Armed Forces Covenant on behalf of the Vanarana National League South club.

At the end of last year, the National League became the first football governing body to sign up to the Covenant which aims to re-dress the disadvantages that the armed forces community may face in comparison to other citizens, and to recognise their sacrifices.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise between the nation, government and the Armed Forces to treat our serving personnel, veterans and their families with fairness and respect.

Major General Richard Stanford MBE, General Officer Commanding, Regional Command said: “It’s all about society, football, and the Armed Forces coming together to support each other. The Armed Forces Covenant is not about special treatment – it’s about recognising the unique nature of service life and providing a level playing field and together in this we can make a real difference.”
