Ryman League - Hornchurch 1 Kingstonian 0

Of all the things that this game could be remembered for it probably won't be for the football. The most important thing though was the result and it was in our favour.

12 minutes in a Vinne John shot deflected onto the Kingstonian bar but 6 minutes later we witnessed a worrying sight of Steve West being stretchered off after he came off worst in a challenge for a loose ball with Kingstonian's Chris Nurse. Jamie Southon came on as his replacement and it was from the restart that we scored the winning goal. Danny Gay sent a free kick to the edge of the area where Vinnie John headed the ball down for Bradley Allen to strike low into the far corner.

It was in the 11th minute of the second half when Kingstonian had to watch their Craig Lewington stretchered off after another loose ball challenge this time with Adam Locke. So, with one ambulance already on its way, another one was called and they arrived within minutes of each other (apparently one ambulance can't handle two patients). With not really much happening on the pitch at the time this caught many people's attention but the game did liven up toward the end. John Keeling shot just over on 90 minutes and Lloyd Opara made two great runs in injury time (which there was plenty of) missing narrowly with a cross goal shot and then with a chip over the keeper which didn't quite go to plan.

Let's hope that both of the players stretchered off make a speedy return.

Line-up:- Gay, Graham, Kerrigan, Adedeji, West (Southon 18), Locke, Keeling, McGowan, John, Douglas (Opara 45), Allen (Gooding 87). Subs not used:- Heathcote, Collier (GK).
