A groundhopper from another Forum was present at Crawley Road:

Spartan South Midland League Div 1
Cranfield Utd 0-0 Raunds Town
Adm £5, prog online, att 80-ish
Cranfield were returning to step 6 after more than a decade away though a miserable forecast probably hampered their efforts to drum up a large crowd. To be fair we arrived in dry weather, but steady swirling drizzle started at half time.
A strange game where, despite the woodwork being hit nine times, two less than inspiring goalkeepers, and a ball that must have been as slippery as soap late on, we never got a goal thanks as well to some wayward finishing and dithering over who should shoot and when. Some 'eclectic' refereeing decisions including a sin bin for each team late on added to the entertainment and distracted from the fact it was actually flippin' cold for August by the end of the game.
Crawley Road is a neat enough venue now with a newish looking white fence all round the pitch and seats added to the small cover down the side between the dugouts. The leylandii could do with a trim on the path to get there mind. Clubhouse was open for the bar and hot drinks, but the main food option was, possibly uniquely, a chinese restaurant stall in the corner of the clubhouse. And sure enough as we sat with a cuppa, plates of spring rolls were delivered to the next table. A kebab van was also available in the car park. There was overflow parking alongside the pitch which was a boon for some given the weather in the second half.
Rather than sample Uncle Lim's fare we held on and repaired to the Swan in downtown Cranfield, within which is the Gurkha Kitchen Nepalese restaurant. Highly recommended, both our mains were delicious.
